All of your required course readings found in the "Readings" area of Canvas will be removed approximately 2 weeks after the end of the semester. This is for copyright compliance.

We recommend that you download your readings as you go through the semester and save them in cloud storage, preferably in the Microsoft Office OneDrive space you are entitled to as a student.  Saving to your computer is also an option, but if something happens to your computer and you lose those files, you will have to re-download.  If you save them to an online storage system, you’ll be able to access them from any device.

Here is a suggested workflow:

  1. Make a folder on your computer, either for the semester or for each course. We recommend the second option.
  2. Go to Canvas and into your course and access the readings.
  3. Save each PDF in that folder you just made.  The filenames will be numbers, so we suggest you rename the file something more meaningful, like the author’s last name and year, or a few words in the title, or some combo of that.  Keep going until you download all those PDFs.  Do this for each course.
  4. Visit https://www.office.com/  and sign in with your Erikson Single Sign On.
  5. Look for the 9 dots (the waffle) in the top left corner, click that, and you’ll see the OneDrive App (see picture of this below).  Click on OneDrive.

6. The OneDrive app will open.  Click the ‘Add New’ button in the top left, and select the ‘Folder Upload’ option. A window opens, and you’ll want to find that folder you made for that course/semester. Click the Upload button. Do this for each folder.

7. Don’t confuse yourself later:  delete that temporary download folder you made!   If you’re nervous, you can first log out of Office and log in again and make sure the folders and files you uploaded are there.

8. Sit back, feel accomplished, and tell your future self, "You’re welcome".

Why OneDrive as a storage location?

If you are saying to yourself, “but I have Google Drive/Dropbox, I’ll just use that.”  That’s certainly your prerogative, but if you experience issues with your personal cloud storage, Erikson’s IT won’t be able to assist, as they do not support that platform.  Also, free Google Account only include 15 GB of storage, which is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.  So you get 66.6 times MORE storage, for FREE, in Microsoft Office OneDrive!  You will retain your access to your OneDrive cloud storage for 1 year after you graduate.
